Role: Construction Superintendent

Reports to: Construction Manager

Job Type: Full - Time

Compensation: Starts at $25 / hour

Location: Des Moines, Iowa with some travel outside of Des Moines

SUMMARY --

The Bilingual Construction Superintendent will oversee all aspects of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires effective communication and coordination with both English and Spanish-speaking team members, subcontractors, and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES --

  • Project Management: Oversee and manage all phases of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Team Coordination: Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards and complies with project specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets and control costs.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the project team, clients, and stakeholders. Effectively communicate in both English and [second language].
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and progress reports to senior management and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS --

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction management.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, PMP) are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly and effectively resolve construction-related issues.
