WHO WE ARE –

VareCo is a private real estate investment company specializing in value-added opportunities across multi-family markets in Des Moines, Iowa. We collaborate with LivLavender, our portfolio management company to manage our diverse portfolio. We are seeking a highly motivated Leasing Specialist for our Portfolio Management team.

Role: Compliance Specialist Intern

Compensation: Starts at $15/ hour 

Location: Des Moines Iowa Area

SUMMARY --

As a Compliance Specialist Intern, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including collecting rent, drafting and distributing legal notices, enforcing lease agreements, attending court when needed, and overseeing all legal processes. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who has a high attention to detail while also understanding the various leases held by residents across the portfolio. This key player would work closely with the management team to ensure  leases are being upheld by both the portfolio team and the resident.

RESPONSIBILITIES –

• Works with a Compliance Specialist to monitor rental payments and takes action on late payments for the portfolio of properties
• Ensure compliance with rental agreements and regulations
• Issue official notices and initiate eviction proceedings
• Represent landlord in legal proceedings as required
• Create detailed reports showcasing the status of each property in the portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS --

• Possess strong proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (including Excel)
• Display exceptional interpersonal and written communication abilities
• Utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making
• Efficiently manage time and balance multiple tasks
• Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
• Sales experience is strongly preferred
• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly and effectively resolve construction-related issues.
